Contributing InstitutionState of Arizona Research Library- Arizona State Library, Archives and Public RecordsCollection Summary
This collection of magazines and periodicals includes titles about or published in Arizona from early to mid 20th century and is an important resource to increase understanding of local and state history and culture. Titles cover subjects such as statehood, tourism, women’s rights, automobiles, and also include industry journals and newsletters.
Within this collection is Arizona, The New State Magazine, a publication spanning fifteen years of Arizona's early history. It is available at the Library with some issues in bound format and some unbound. Due to the fragile nature of these 100-year-old magazines and their bindings, the scans provided are the best available.
Another highlight of this collection is almost uninterrupted coverage from 1939 – 1962 of Arizona Builder & Contractor (or its variant titles: Arizona-New Mexico Builder & Contractor and Arizona-New Mexico Contractor & Engineer). Arizona Builder & Contractor is a valuable print and photographic resource which provides a unique and thorough view of city and neighborhood growth throughout Arizona and the Southwest.
