As a self-appointed lobbyist he traveled to Washington, D.C. and succeeded in convincing Congress and President Lincoln to pass legislation creating the territory of Arizona in 1863. For his efforts he was elected the territory’s first delegate to Congress.Date Original1981Date Range1980s (1980-1989)TypeStill ImageOriginal FormatDrawings (visual works)Oil pencilContributing InstitutionArizona Capitol MuseumCollectionChris-Town Shopping Center - 24 Arizona Heritage PortraitsRights StatementIN COPYRIGHT
